What's special about this area is that you don't have to follow the path. You're free to wander around freely. The Stille Kern (Still Core) covers 900 hectares and is the most peaceful spot in the Horsterwold. At most, you'll hear a herd of Konik horses grazing or the rustling of fallow deer hiding in the tall grass. During the walk, you'll encounter a variety of landscapes, from open meadows to secluded woodlands. Stroll past a pond, a willow stand, and through an ash forest. In spring, the hawthorn bushes are in bloom. A beautiful sight. Source: https://www.staatsbosbeheer.nl/uit-in-de-natuur/boswachterspad-horsterwold-stillekern
