The beautifully restored Renaissance castle of Schmieheim was built between 1607 and 1610 by Friedrich Bock von Gerstheim. The Bock family was an old Strasbourg patrician family that had owned Schmieheim since 1449. Today, the castle houses, among other things, the local administration.
