Zig Zag Track is a well-formed, unsealed path that climbs steadily to the summit of Mount Taylor. Its series of switchbacks makes the ascent easier than the direct routes, with interpretive signs explaining the reserve’s natural and cultural history along the way. The track finishes at the summit trig point, with expansive views that stretch across Canberra and extend all the way to the Brindabella Ranges in the distance.

Located along the Murrumbidgee River in north west Canberra the Woodstock Nature Reserve offers a great combination of grassland and bushland. You'll find a number of great hikes both near the river and in the hills that surround it. The most popular destination is Shepherd's Lookout which has panoramic views over the river and is accessible by a well maintained track.

You'll pass multiple other viewpoints and have a decent chance at spotting wildlife as well. The path is fairly flat and doesn't have any major obstacles so it's perfect for families with younger children.
