We continue on the path, now through a beautiful landscape in lush green, the crickets chirp enchantingly around us. Now we go uphill, the grass and bushes are getting higher and higher, higher than us, startled by us in the thicket, deer run. We get back onto a forest path and reach the town of Buttelstedt. The church is in the center, the town has been there since 768. We buy drinks and treat ourselves to a refreshment in the ice cream parlor. Now we continue parallel to the road, along the cycle path. https://youtu.be/nFbLNkERv8c

Here my children could also make a small wooden figure with a lathe with the instructions of the owner. Website: http://web2.cylex.de/reviews/viewcompanywebsite.aspx?firmaName=freilichtmuseum+mechanika-da-vinci+leutenthal&companyId=11751480

The mighty parish church of Sankt Nikolai with its impressive tracery windows, Renaissance pulpit, epitaphs (including a painting by Lucas Cranach's pupil Peter Roddelstedt from 1563) and crypt, as well as its fascinating spatial sound, was built from 1486 to 1566 as a late Gothic hall church with a wooden barrel on the fortifications the castle erected. It is a church building that is unparalleled around Weimar, and which testifies to the once outstanding position of the city. The 57 m high tower of the church largely dominates all lines of sight to the city. The tower clock from the time shortly after the Thirty Years War is a rarity in the church between Weimar and Halberstadt due to its striking technique and current functionality next to the organ. Buttelstedt was founded in 768 at the later Via Regia and at the intersection of old trade routes, was one of the four courts of the Thuringian landgraves (today's monument above the city center), owned a castle that offered citizens and commercial travelers protection, has been due to its cultural and economic importance since 1334 market rights and since 1454 city rights.

Beautiful valley section of the Scherkonde, meadow light with large trees and on the eastern side a slope lined with trees and bushes. Natural, but well-kept. Nice spot.
