A stunning location above Bockenheim. On a clear day, breathtaking panoramic views of the Rhine plain. Operated by Bockenheim winegrowers from the end of March to the end of October.

"An old pilgrimage path leads through Bockenheim's Stiegelgasse to the pilgrimage chapel, which bears the peculiar name 'Church of St. Peter and Paul at the Steps of the Blessed Virgin Mary.' In 1496, a pilgrimage church with a spring and three altars stood there 'on the Petersberg.' The water was considered to have healing powers. [...] After the church fell into disrepair—the practice of the Catholic religion was prohibited from 1563 to 1700—the Episcopal Ordinariate in Worms permitted the church to be rebuilt in 1730. In an inventory from 1776, the rebuilt choir house church is referred to as the 'Holy Church' or the 'upper and lower pilgrimage church.' It was destroyed during the French Revolution, and the ruins were auctioned off with restrictions in 1825. The still-preserved "lower pilgrimage church" with the spring of grace remained the property of the Catholics. It was rebuilt in 1858. repaired. Since 1947, the pilgrimage festival around the Octave of 'Peter and Paul' has been celebrated as a diocesan pilgrimage of the Kolping Family of the Diocese of Speyer."
