Saw a beaver, but only on the way back and unfortunately didn't manage to get a photo. You have to walk very attentively and listen to nature, and a bit of luck probably belongs to it too.

We stayed one night at the hotel to start our tour around the prison. We enjoyed an excellent breakfast. The bikes could be stored in a locked garage.

A forgotten, very exciting trail along the former Ducherow–Swinemünde railway line through an enchanted landscape. Magnificent!

The Ducherow – Swinoujscie – Wolgast Ferry railway line ran from Ducherow over the Karnin lift bridge to Usedom, first east to Swinoujscie, then northwest across the island to Trassenheide, and finally southwest to the Wolgast Ferry. After World War II, continuous service was no longer possible. The lift bridge was destroyed by German troops, and the new border divided the line. The section from Ducherow to Ahlbeck was dismantled between 1945 and 1948 as reparations. Only the section from Wolgast Ferry to Ahlbeck remained in operation. Around 2000, the section between Ahlbeck and Świnoujście Centrum was rebuilt, as was the connection to the mainland via a new bridge near Wolgast. Restoring the entire line is difficult due to the high cost of the Karnin lift bridge and the lack of space in Świnoujście. Today, the Świnoujście – Wolgast line is a single-track branch line and main line of the Usedomer Bäderbahn (UBB). In summer, trains run every 30 minutes, and hourly to Züssow. The railway embankment crosses the 1,461-hectare Anklamer Stadtbruch nature reserve in the Peenetal River Landscape Nature Park. The area is considered ecologically intact and difficult to access; only two hiking trails lead into it. In 2018, the NABU Foundation acquired 1,253.8 hectares of the area, restricted hunting, and began the restoration of the raised bog. The dead trees, standing like memorials in the bog, are particularly impressive. Not a comfortable path due to its rocky nature, but an incredible, highly recommended nature experience!
