The Briese River originated as a glacial meltwater runoff. It rises in Lake Wandlitz and flows into the Havel River in Birkenwerder. It meanders through the landscape, forming alder groves and marshy meadows in the marshy area. These are home to many animal species.

Beautiful to look at from the second bridge, but towards Oranienburg on the cycle path along the Oranienburg Canal is the most beautiful, smallest and third bridge.

Be sure to stop in the summer and listen to the reed warblers. It's not very common (perhaps only every two or three years) to see an oriole.

One of the many locks in Oberhavel. Directly on the cycle path between Pinnow and Oranienburg. A super quiet route.

If you really, really want to, you can get to Haveleck by bike (and vice versa, of course), depending on the weather. However, you may have to push your bike for about 200 - 300 m and "hop" across the field. It's a bit tedious, impassable and, if it's rained, pretty muddy... 👍
