The old Laubusch opencast mine, one of the strongest in the GDR era in Lusatia until 1962...it's nice that it is remembered.

The memorial for the former Erika-Laubusch briquette factory was created in 1997 on the open space in front of the briquette factory's administration building in the immediate vicinity of the barracks, which are also still original. The facility consists of a memorial stone with the inscription: "Briquette factory Erika-Laubusch", a mine car (Hunt) on a piece of track and an installation of four half flywheels, which are set up in a circle formation. The memorial therefore does justice to the economic importance of Laubusch. The Hunt is reminiscent of the Erika mine, which was opened here in 1918. The flywheels come from the briquette factory's presses. The memorial is highly effective in terms of social history and industrial history as a place of remembrance for the Laubusch industrial site.

The old Laubusch opencast mine stopped producing coal in 1962; it had been in operation since 1918. After the Scado and Bluno opencast mines were closed, the briquette factory was supplied from the new Bärwalde and Nochten mines. Until the fall of 1989/1990, it was one of the most efficient briquette factories in Lusatia.
