This chapel was built in 1860, and this true story is told above it. A citizen of Klüsserath, Peter Lentes, was suffering from a serious illness, a feverish one. Already, the approach of death was becoming apparent. The sick man no longer felt any pain, nor did he suffer any anguish. His body became rigid, as if seized by death. But his spirit was still alive and working in haste. "Help, Mother of God," he thought in his distress. "Help, dear Mother, I am not yet dead." After a few hours, he began to live again. Those hours seemed like years to him. But he could not enjoy his health for long. He was struck by an illness, a new one. And again he came to the edge of the grave. Declared to be apparently dead by an attack. Wordlessly, he begged the Mother of God. "Hear, "Dear Mother," my heartfelt prayers. "Don't let them carry me away. To the cemetery, that dark place. The Mother of God kindly inclined her ear. At her intercession, he revived. But when he was seemingly dead for the third time, His death was clear. When he hadn't moved for days, They laid him in the coffin with tears in their eyes. His body resembled a corpse. His eyes were broken, his skin so pale. Help, Mother of God, I beg you. Oh, pray for me, poor man. This is what is going through his mind and brain. I am lost, a pounding beat behind my forehead. And if you help me, Mother, out of this distress, I will remain grateful to you until death. I want to build a chapel in your honor. As a memorial to your help, for granting my prayers. For the third time, the seemingly dead man begins to breathe. Oh, see what the Mother of God has done in goodness. The chapel was built through sacrifice and effort. With it, love and devotion for the Mother of God have blossomed. Many people come to pray from near and far. Everyone loves coming to the chapel beyond the forest. The chapel stands alone, yet not deserted, even though it is far from traffic. So it will always stand, Peter Lentes, in memory of the dear Mother of God.
