Plaque - The Devil at the Glänzelmühle, in Grünfelder Park in Waldenburg. Information: According to an old legend: A whole summer without rain, the mill wheel stood still. The miller was at his wits' end. One evening, he let in a stranger, the Devil. They drank, the miller's fear subsided, and he told him his plight. The Devil offered help if he would sign a piece of paper and sell him his soul. The miller made the pact. Shortly afterward, a storm descended from the black sky, the kind the miller had longed for for months. Years passed. One late evening, a bear tamer knocked at the door. Tormented by the fear of the Devil's return, the miller told the bear tamer everything. The tamer said he had a solution. Soon after, the Devil actually appeared. The bear took him between its paws and gave him a good thrashing. The miller offered to release him from his predicament if he received the parchment back. The Devil relented, returned the paper, and the miller burned it.
