A very beautiful beach. Dierhagen Beach is located directly behind the dike. In just a few steps along the promenade, you'll reach the over 7-kilometer-long, fine sandy beach. Sunbathers and swimmers alike will find the perfect spot there. In the coastal protection forest, you'll find the open-air stage, where a diverse cultural program for all ages is offered during the high season. This part of town also features a tent cinema, a campground, shops, and the tourist information office in the "Haus des Gastes" (Visitor Center). These are old peat pits. Peat was once extracted here as fuel.

The Ribnitz Great Moor is a rain-fed bog, meaning it is fed solely by precipitation, which is "held" by the moss. The moss grows as a result, arches upwards, forms peat, and grows... if it is not drained. Here, too, peat was dug, and the bog was drained. Today, a worthwhile excursion trail leads through it, with information boards and benches.

In the fall of 2025, the path was well-paved and passable. The Ribnitz Great Moor is a rain-fed bog, meaning it is fed solely by precipitation, which is "held" by the moss. The moss grows as a result, bulges up, forms peat, and grows... if it isn't drained. Here, too, peat was dug and the bog drained. Today, a worthwhile excursion trail leads through it, with information boards and benches.
