A farmer loaded his ox team with wood. On top, he placed his small child. Suddenly, the oxen are said to have bolted, with the small child sitting on top behind them. In his great distress, the farmer vowed that where the wagon came to a stop, he would erect a large cross in thanks. At the foot of the mountain, the ox team actually came to a stop, and as if by a miracle, the child remained unharmed.
