Perhaps some still remember Medeu? The ice skating stadium in the mountains, where so many records were set? The old stadium is currently undergoing a fundamental renovation, by the way. In the national park, a lot is being built, sealed, concreted, and fenced (a lot of money makes it possible); we see villas up to 2440m and advertising on the roads.

The mountain rescue has been upgraded and is now a fire station (with a solid new house) and fat 4WD vehicles (including a Tesla Cyber Truck...).

Of course, this is also a viewpoint, but you are only on the slope of the dam ... and are welcome to go a bit higher ;-)

Of course, you can see the peaks of the Tien Shan from there. But it is still one of the lowest points (on the road); you are welcome to go a bit higher ;-)

A simple hiking trail leads from the edge of the canyon down to the Scharyn River for about two kilometers. After a break at the cooling river, you can come back on foot or by shared taxi.

What a wonderful place to rest by the river. After the hike through the canyon, the river opens up a new perspective on the canyon.
