The church was built in 1706 on the foundations of a Gothic predecessor, which had been destroyed in 1693 when the village was burned down. A short, square nave is adjoined to the east by a chancel that is set back by the width of the wall and may still be Gothic in its core, with sloping side walls. A second extension on the west side dates from a later date (1923). From the multi-pitched roof of the nave rises a square, slate-covered roof lantern, which culminates in an octagonal tower and is rightly considered a masterpiece of carpentry and roofing. The pulpit, pews, and gallery railing date from the time of construction. The interior was painted in Baroque patterns in 1956.
