The Old Port (North Port) is located directly in the city center, adjacent to the promenade. Today, it primarily serves the ferry connections to the Ionian Islands (such as Kefalonia and Ithaka). Large parts of the old port area have been opened to the public. Today, there are green spaces such as the South Park, cafés, and spaces for cultural events. Current developments (as of 2026) The port is currently being expanded into a "Smart Port," with modern technologies being used for traffic management and environmental protection. There are also new efforts to establish Patras as a destination for cruise ships and mega-yachts.

The Christos Grivas monument on Cyprus Square (Platia Kyprou) in Patras, Greece.   The monument is dedicated to a Greek soldier who was reported missing during the Turkish invasion of Cyprus in 1974.   It consists of a bronze sculpture of a soldier against the backdrop of the outline of the island of Cyprus, mounted on a large, hewn stone block.   The left-hand marble plaque contains details of the memorial; there is another information plaque on the right.   The square regularly serves as a site for memorial services and wreath-laying ceremonies in honour of those killed and missing in the Cyprus conflict.

The Patras railway station (Greek: Σιδηροδρομικός Σταθμός Πατρών) is located directly at the city's port. Currently (as of March 2026), the situation is as follows: No direct train connection to Athens: The station is not yet connected to the modern rail network (standard gauge). The new high-speed line from Athens currently ends in Aigio. Rail replacement service: Passengers to Athens use Hellenic Train buses from this station to Kiato (or Aigio). There, they transfer to the suburban train (Proastiakos), which takes you to Athens or the airport. Local train service: The station continues to serve as a stop for the local narrow-gauge railway (Proastiakos Patras). These trains run on two lines.

The mural titled "Reminder" (Greek: "Υπενθύμιση") by the Greek artist Bilos (Vassilis Manthopoulos). The artwork was created in 2018 as part of the third edition of the international street art festival ArtWalk 3. Bilos, an illustrator and muralist born in Patras, now lives in Sofia. His works are often inspired by still lifes, architecture (especially brutalism) and his Greek origins, as shown by the depiction of amphorae. Bilos often uses a mixture of brushes, rollers, and wall and spray paints for his murals. The mural is divided into different segments that combine minimalist illustrations, abstract forms, and typographic elements.

The new port of Patras (South Port) has served as the central "Gateway to Europe" since 2011 and is the primary port of call for international ferry connections to Italy. While the South Port handles long-distance traffic, the old North Port (near the city center) is primarily used for local connections to the Ionian Islands. The routes are mainly operated by the ferry companies Anek Superfast, Grimaldi Lines, and Minoan Lines.
