The Ruppelmühle is particularly well-known; it is housed in a brick building dating from 1900 and generates 90 kW of electricity through two turbines, primarily for the attached milling operation, where approximately 20 tons of grain are milled daily. (Wikipedia)

In 1946, the Catholic Church Foundation acquired the land at Bergskopf, on the southern slope of the Mehlberg, from the landowner Berta Metz. At the suggestion of the local parish priest at the time, Johannes Schilling, the chapel, constructed of rubble masonry, was built there. Also in 1946, returning soldiers established the burial site on both sides of the chapel, which now contains 101 crosses. The war memorial belonging to the site was erected in 1909 and commemorates the fallen soldiers from Steinach who died in the Franco-Prussian War of 1870/71. It was originally located in the Steinach market square and was moved to the war memorial site on April 25, 1974. The yellow sandstone stele stands on a stepped base and bears the names of the fallen. (Wikipedia) Police report: On October 15, 2025, unknown persons stole the copper plates from 23 grave crosses in the war cemetery at the mountain chapel in Steinach. Several crosses were severely damaged as a result. The plates on three other crosses were torn during the attempt to remove them. The total damage is estimated at approximately 3,000 euros.

There are benches at the Aegidius Oak that invite you to rest after the steep climb towards the mountain chapel.
