The Annendaalsbos is a nature reserve east of Maria Hoop and located directly northwest of the German-Dutch border. Following this is the Nieuw Annendaalsbos. The area consists mainly of coniferous forest on former heathland, and the largest part, 177 hectares, is owned by Staatsbosbeheer. In addition, there is another 50 hectares in private ownership. This forest is located on a ridge south of a cultivated peat area at an altitude of approximately 30 meters, and in the forest the height rises, partly with a steep edge, to over 50 meters. Haaren is located directly on the German side of the border. Other hamlets along the forest are Putbroek in the north, and Annendaal in the northeast.
