Easy hikes and walks in Přírodní Rezervace Vrbenské Rybníky

At the confluence of the Malše and the Vltava lies the four-star hotel "Budweis". There are 59 double rooms and one suite available for overnight stays. In the 14th century, the city's first mill stood at this location. Its successor building from 1872, the new mill (Přední mlýn), became the basis of today's hotel. During the socialist era, the mill, which closed in 1926, had served as a warehouse for household goods. The conversion into the "Budweis" hotel took place in 2009.

Practical use and adornment of the square: The fountain, the construction of which was decided by the city council in 1716, should fulfill both functions. On the one hand, it should supply households, craft businesses, and hospitality establishments with water, and on the other hand, it should impress visually through exquisite stonework (by Zachariáš Horn) and sculptural decorations (by Josef Dietrich). Between 1721 and 1727, the fountain was built, its water pumped from the Vltava. The sculpture, depicting the biblical Samson taming a lion, is considered a landmark of České Budějovice. Samson looks north towards Prague.

With an area of 1.78 hectares, Přemysl Otakar II Square in České Budějovice is the second largest square in the Czech Republic, after the town square in Vysoké Mýto (2.05 hectares). Since January 1, 1991, it has been named after the city founder King Přemysl Otakar II of Bohemia; previously (especially in the 20th century) its name changed frequently. The almost square square with a side length of 133 meters was already laid out when the city was founded in 1265. Around it, eight-meter-wide plots were measured for the construction of burgher houses. Today, there are 48 houses around the square, including the baroque town hall, the Art Nouveau building Puklics House, and the Neo-Renaissance masterpiece Biene Palace.

The three-story Palais Včela (Palace Bee), richly decorated with stucco and sculptures, is an outstanding example of German Neo-Renaissance. Built from 1895 to 1896 according to designs by Peter Paul Brang, the house was commissioned by the German savings and advance association Biene. The sculptural decoration was designed and executed by the local painter, sculptor, and later director of the South Bohemian Museum, Richard Kristinus.

The Plachého connects the north side of Přemysl-Otakar-II.-Platz with the street Na Mlýnské stoce and via a footbridge with the Sady Park. In the Middle Ages, the pig market was held here, hence the name Sviní, meaning Pig Street, since 1371. The northern end of the street was originally surrounded by the city wall, which was demolished and opened up by a footbridge to the Sady city park. As the German name of the Sviní, Saugasse, was perceived as derogatory, it was changed to Sauergasse in the 18th century. In 1875, the street was officially renamed Plachého. Its name commemorates the town clerk Šimon Plachý von Třebnice, who was killed in 1611 during an incursion by the army of the Bishop of Passau.

A wonderful ambiance and above all a very nice lady who patiently explained the entire process of eyebrow and lash lamination to me. She worked precisely and paid attention to every detail. The result was absolutely stunning eyebrows and lashes. The eyebrows were perfectly shaped and emphasized, and the lashes had great volume and a beautiful shape. I can recommend it to anyone who wants to relax and have perfect eyebrows and lashes.

A beautiful historic building that has been wonderfully converted into a great hotel. Unfortunately, the air conditioning cannot be controlled. This makes the climate a bit difficult. Upon request, you get a key for the window. That helps. The old town of Budweiss is only a few minutes' walk away. And there is a lot to see there.

The fountain is very beautiful. Especially in the evening, when it is illuminated, it looks very good. The light reflects beautifully in the water. By the way, Samson looks exactly towards Tabor, i.e. watches in the direction of the Protestant stronghold.
