The small café, which serves excellent cappuccinos, among other things, takes its name from a baroque painting on its façade: at the height of the first floor, between two windows in a rectangular stucco frame, the coronation of the Virgin Mary (Madonna) is depicted with adoring angels on the sides. Below the picture and at the top is the number 1649, which refers to the year the painting was created. The hipped roof dates from 1832. It replaced the Renaissance roof structure that went up in flames in the devastating city fire on April 13, 1832. The fire destroyed 137 town houses.

The Rumpál House, a townhouse that acquired its current appearance in the 16th century, is notable for its rich Renaissance sgraffito decoration, thematically inspired by Ovid's Metamorphoses. The house is named after the patrician Rumpál family, who owned it until 1671. After that, the town brewery was located here, and later the malthouse. The house with its beautiful Renaissance arcades has been used in more recent times as a puppet theater, cinema and bakery, among other things. Its origins date back to the middle of the 15th century, when a new row of houses was built on the east side of the Great Square, reducing the square by half.

The Sitr House (Sitrův dům), a two-storey town house, now houses the Prachatice Town Museum. The house was originally Gothic and was first mentioned in 1555. It took on its current form in 1604, when Ambrož Sitr had it rebuilt in the Renaissance style for his son Tomáš Sitr. The house's name also comes from this family. In 1945, the Sitr House became state property. It was decided to establish a town museum here, but due to its poor condition after World War II, the house had to be extensively renovated and the facade paintings (created by the Prachatice painter Šebestián Hájek between 1617 and 1622) restored. The museum was opened on 5 July 1954.

Velké náměstí, the Great Square, is the historical town centre of Prachatice. The builders and owners of the richly sgraffiti-decorated houses were mostly the richest members of wealthy patrician families. Until the 16th century, most of the houses belonged to salt traders on the Golden Path trade route. The demand for houses on the square led to the construction of a new row of houses on the east side of the original square in the 16th century. This reduced its area by about half, and the original houses on the east side became the western row of buildings in Křišťanova Street.

The Lower Gate refers not only to the fortifications at this entrance to the Old Town, but also - as Dolní brána - to the 13-meter-long street that leads through the gate buildings. It connects the Kostelní náměstí with the Malý náměstí. The covered passage at the Heydl House is also called the Písecká Gate. To the right is the Parkán Park, followed by another, battlemented passage in which there is a depiction of Calvary.

The Church of St. James the Greater is a significant building of the High and Late Gothic period. The current form was created during the Late Gothic reconstruction of the church from 1468 to 1513, the presbytery is older and probably dates back to the 14th century (the oldest mention of the consecration of St. James' Church dates back to 1312). During the Hussite Wars, on November 12, 1420, 85 people were burned in the sacristy of the then unfinished church, then the vault of the sacristy was demolished and the fallen stones covered the bodies.
