Hackett Track winds through some of the quieter forest in the Dandenong Ranges, following a broad gravel path beneath towering Mountain Ash, messmate forest, and dense fern gullies. The track stays heavily shaded for much of the walk, with cool conditions year-round and plenty of birdlife moving through the canopy above. It’s especially atmospheric after rain when mist hangs through the forest and the fern-lined gullies feel at their most lush.
