Along the route you will find several of these deep wells from the OOWV (Oldenburg-East Frisian Water Association). They are relatively new, and there is almost always an old deep well nearby that looks much smaller. Forests store water - and that is why the drinking water in this area basically comes from the forest. Nothing is taken away from the trees, the tree roots do not reach the extraction depth. The next and new waterworks is a few kilometers away. If you want to find out more about our drinking water yourself or with children, you will find a great water park in Nethen near Rastede, the cascade in Diekmannshausen near Varel and the Hasselt water park near Hesel, which actually offers a lot for children too.

The Hotel Seeblick is one of several possible starting points for the circular hike around the Thülsfelder Dam. It is also a good place to stop for a bite to eat.
