If it weren't for the information board placed here, you could easily miss this place. These are the ruins of inns that operated here until 1945. This is all that remains of this famous forest inn, which was a favorite place for walkers to stop, as Barlinek is and has been a bathing resort for many years: this inn had many guests.

It was built in 1913. The first guests arrived on 01.04.1914, and the restaurant was ceremonially consecrated on 21.05.1914. It was one of the largest, most frequently visited inns in the city. The restaurant itself was surrounded by a concert hall, a park with benches, and a stable. According to unwritten sources, the restaurant burned down during the war. "The road along Műckerburger Strasse leads to the restaurant. Then you have to cross the Cow Bridge over a stream winding between gradually filled marsh meadows, between the City Lake and Uklejowe Lake. We can go straight through the Cow Bridge Mountain, a former pasture for forest workers. Continuing along the left side of the road, before the road rises, we reach this wonderful destination for trips out of town. It is rare to find a place that is such a frequent destination for those seeking rest from near and far as our Waldschenke" - Heimat Soldin. For several years now, the Regional Museum in Barlinek has been trying to start cleaning work on the premises of this unique facility. This year, thanks to the free help of archaeologists visiting Barlinek - mgr Marcin Peterleitner and mgr Alicja Witowiak, this goal was achieved. After obtaining all the necessary permits, in September this year, work began on the premises of "Leśna Gospoda". The very first days revealed many valuable monuments that had been preserved deep underground. Unfortunately, the ruins, left unattended for over 60 years, were often visited by looters. The entire floor, stairs, lots of dishes with the restaurant's logo, bottles, tools, metal elements, a sewing machine and even toothpaste and cream of a well-known brand were preserved. However, subsequent parts of the restaurant, discovered over several weeks, did not reveal any remains of the fire. The thesis that Waldschenke was burned down was thus disproved. The most likely is that it was dismantled. The ruins lacked the appropriate amount of roof tiles, bricks, and glass for the structure of the building. If the restaurant had burned down, as was claimed, the remains of the above-mentioned building elements would have been found. Source: https://barlinek24.pl/aktualnosci/1151-tajemnica-lenej-gospody
