Peak tour through Germany: the highest pass and mountain roads
The Kreuzquelle was originally an Empire structure (1826) and was replaced by this reinforced concrete structure in 1912. In 1992, the previously open structure was enclosed by glass walls and the atrium was also covered with a dome. Three springs can be tested here: the Kreuz-, Rudolf- and Karolinenquelle: all are CO2-rich, all similarly sour, only slightly different in mineralization.

1889 Colonnades (historicizing, with Neo-Baroque elements) were built according to plans by Viennese architects. In the 1980s, all the paintings were replaced by new ones: "The Dream of Flying".

Construction of St. Nicholas Church likely began between 1220 and 1230. Only the west portal, parts of the north portal, and the lower sections of the east towers remain from the former basilica. The floor plan resembles that of Bamberg Cathedral, which probably served as a model. The three-aisled nave, the presbytery, and the sacristy date from the Gothic period. After a fire in 1742, the towers were rebuilt with Baroque domes based on a design by Balthasar Neumann, who was born here. In April, the roof was destroyed by a bombing raid.
