The Willow Spring Picnic Area has many picnic tables, some of which are shaded by large cottonwood and oak trees, trash cans, and two pit-toilets, but no drinking water. It is close to several points of interest, including ancient indigenous petroglyphs and pictograms, rock climbing areas, and a seasonal waterfall. The picnic area itself is wheelchair accessible and a great spot deep in the heart of Red Rock Canyon to rest and eat lunch.

The Children's Discovery trail is a self-guided, interpretive trail suitable for all ages. This part of the Children's Discovery Trail is where the vast majority of informational signs and ecological and historical sites are and is also a part of the Willow Springs Loop. Completing the remainder of the Children's Discovery Trail ( short loop is 0.6 miles total), will teach you and hikers of all ages about different aspects the Mojave Desert environment and the history of Red Rock Canyon. This educational and scenic trail is a great addition to anyone's Willow Springs and/or Lost Creek Loop hike or on its own with family after a quick snack at the Willow Spring's picnic area.

Amazing views of Ice Box Canyon before you drop into the wash and enter Ice Box Canyon proper. You can see the varnished, steep canyon walls as well as an amazing hanging valley below the summit of Bridge Mountain. You also get great views of Calico Hills behind you framed by the canyon walls.

The waterfall is sometimes frozen the winter providing unique photo opportunities in the desert!
