If you're looking for an easy 2.9-mile (4.7 km) loop that offers a diverse and engaging nature walk, the West Rocky Prairie Loop is a great pick. With a mere 36 feet (11 metres) of elevation gain, this route takes just over an hour and 11 minutes to complete, guiding you through aspen-shaded paths, expansive mounded prairie, and peaceful oak woodlands. In May, the prairie bursts with wildflowers, adding vibrant color to the big skies and native vegetation, making it a delightful experience for birdwatchers and nature lovers alike.

The West Rocky Prairie Loop is situated within the 810-acre West Rocky Prairie Wildlife Area, a critical habitat managed by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife. This unique ecosystem supports various plant and animal species, including endangered ones like the Oregon spotted frog and the Olympic mudminnow. It's a fantastic place to observe prairie birds such as the Oregon vesper sparrow and western meadowlark, offering a glimpse into a vital conservation effort.

From kayaking, sup boarding... you can even fish! Both catch and release and take home. There's a parking lot and restrooms at the pier and if that lot is full there are several others near by.

This is one of a couple beaches open to the public on Deep Lake. This picnic spot with a sandy shore is just off the side of the trail, and there is even a swimming area marked off in the water. The lake is a popular fishing spot, but it works just as well as a photo backdrop.

Millersylvania State Park is best known for its quiet camping options and the sizable Deep Lake, but it also has some great trails for hiking and easy mountain biking. The trails are mostly smooth dirt with lots of twists and turns. It's best to keep your speed down, especially on the narrow boardwalk sections.
