June 12, 2025, Ascot Hills Park

Ascot Hills is a great place for a quick hike with solid views of L.A. The trail’s not too long but has some good uphill sections. If you make it to the top, the city viewsβ€”especially at sunsetβ€”are totally worth it.

A network of hard-packed dirt trails surround this small lake. You can ride right up to the edge. The banking of the trails combined with the tree boughs that overhang the water make this feel like a secret oasis.

This bike lane is an excellent way to ride in/out of the busier Los Angeles area. It consists of smooth asphalt. Depending on the amount of water in the river, the bike lane can floods in some spots, but nothing too bad.

Enormously sized park in an area of expensive villas. Much is used by a country club golf course, as well as some community park area with ponds, meadows, picnic areas etc.

Neat loop road around a meadow with tall old trees providing shade

Hilly park covering a surprising large space in this crowded urban area. Sliced by Arroyo Seco on its western side, there are only a couple access points to the trail which otherwise runs lower in the concrete bed of the seasonal stream.
