The Westerwald Railway dates back to the Krupp Mine Railway, which transported iron ore from the Steinebach mine to Scheuerfeld from 1883 onwards. In 1913, the meter-gauge mine railway was replaced by a standard-gauge line and extended to Nauroth. From 1930 onwards, the tracks extended to Emmerzhausen, and during World War II, even to the Lippe military airfield, today's Siegerland Airport. The Westerwald Railway of the Altenkirchen District GmbH uses the existing line for freight transport. More information: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bahnstrecke_Scheuerfeld%E2%80%93Emmerzhausen
