In the Bättmerhitta, it is easy to linger in the rustic mountain hut ambiance and thoroughly enjoy the fine Valais specialties. Word has it that many guests undertake the Fiescheralp-Bettmeralp hiking trail specifically for the unique, impressively sized Crèmeschnitte – the Bättmerhitta is located directly on the route. The opening hours of the Bättmerhitta are weather-dependent. In case of bad weather, we therefore recommend contacting the restaurant beforehand. The Eggishorn can be reached with the cable car from Fiesch, which was completed in 1966. This is divided into two sections: Fiesch - Fiescheralp/Kühboden and Fiescheralp/Kühboden - Eggishorn. On the Fiesch - Fiescheralp section, the cable car overcomes a height difference of 1146 m and on the Fiescheralp/Kühboden - Eggishorn section of 655 m. The journey from the valley to the mountain station takes 15 minutes. The mountain station is at 2866 m above sea level.[1] From the station, a path leads to the summit in 15 minutes. The operation of the cable car was temporarily suspended in October 2019 for safety reasons due to changes in the terrain at the mountain station caused by thawed permafrost.[2] The first section to Fiescheralp was replaced in 2019 by a 10-person gondola lift (circular lift), which starts directly at the new public transport hub in Fiesch,[3] which shortens the transfer routes between trains and buses.
