The palace was built between 1701 and 1711 as a hunting lodge for Emperor Charles VI. In 1945, the palace was plundered by Soviet occupation troops, and in 1949, it largely burned down. Only the central section of the main building survived; the side wings were gradually reconstructed.

The park is open 24 hours a day, year-round. Cyclists are welcome throughout the entire castle grounds; bike racks can be found in front of the castle and the restaurant. It's worth seeing, a worthwhile destination for a detour or a tour.

The exhibition "SISI - DRESSES OF AN EMPRESS" is on display in the palace until October 26, 2022. But probably again next year from April to October!
