This is the Ecopista do Río Miño, it goes from Valença to Monção. In Valença you can connect at Nosa Senhora da Cabeça with the Ecopista that goes to Vila Nova de Cerveira. In Monção you can continue to Melgaço along the banks of the Minho River. You can do a circular route along both banks of the Minho, from Tui to Salvaterra, cross to Monção and return to Valença via the Ecopista, it is 40 km of easy level. The bank on the Spanish side is somewhat technical in some sections.

The wooden walkways stretch along the city walls of Monção and the banks of the Minho River to the stunning Parque das Caldas, always with views of neighboring Galicia. Inaugurated in 2021, they are a great way to reach Fortaleza de Monção.

Varziela is a typical village in the region, where the stone houses defy time and preserve the authenticity of the past. Among the various historic bridges that still stand, the Varziela Bridge stands out as the one that most clearly shows traces of medieval architecture. However, some argue that this bridge is actually a medieval reinterpretation of an older Roman structure, as was the case with other bridges in the region.

The old Friestas Railway Station, once a stop on the Minho Line, has not received trains for over 40 years. Opened on 15 June 1913, it connected Valença to Lapela and was once served by trains between Porto - São Bento and Lapela. Today, all that remains is the memory of a time when the tracks still told stories of travel.
