One of my favorite towns in Silesia, an extremely picturesque palace with a park and a beautiful market square.

A super quality bike path, although the railway tracks running alongside it make it less attractive.

🏰 Waldschloss – Forest Castle in Halemba (Ruda Śląska) Hidden among the greenery of the former Stara Kuźnica (today's Halemba), Waldschloss – or "Forest Castle" – is the atmospheric ruin of a former restaurant from the early 20th century, which for decades was the heart of social and cultural life in this part of Silesia. 📜 History: Built in 1905 as an elegant venue with a ballroom, beer garden, and distinctive turret, Waldschloss quickly gained a reputation as an important meeting point for locals. After the war, it hosted church fairs, May Day celebrations, dances, and Sunday gatherings after Vespers. 🍺 Once a vibrant place – now a nostalgic ruin. Although the building is currently abandoned and in ruins, it still impresses with its architectural details and unique atmosphere – perfect for a quick bike stop, a photo, or a moment of reflection on the region's history. 🏞️ Tip for cyclists: It's worth venturing off the main route here – the building is located near forest paths and offers respite from the hustle and bustle of the city. A quiet, charming place with potential for revitalization. 📍 Location: Ruda Śląska – Halemba (Stara Kuźnica), Silesian Voivodeship ⏳ Status: closed, private property ⚠️ Exercise caution – the area is not secured

The "Tekla" poplar tree, with several nearby spots for a short break during the tour. This place changes year after year. This is a good thing, as more and more visitors come here each year.

The castle was built between 1905 and 1908. In its heyday, it hosted theater performances, parties, concerts, and film screenings.
