The view of the confluence of the famous Czech rivers Vltava and Labe always captivates me. I prefer to look directly from the castle. I recommend it to everyone, the view and the experience are worth it.

Despite later renovations, Houska Castle retained its worth-seeing fortress character, was temporarily occupied by Swedes during the Thirty Years' War, and is today one of the best-preserved Gothic sites of Přemysl Otakar II.

The city of Mělník is certainly symbolized by the silhouette of the castle with the church of St. Peter and Paul towering above the confluence of the Elbe and Vltava rivers. This beautiful view is offered to us immediately as soon as we arrive in the city after less than 40 minutes from Prague. In Mělník we can drink good local wine, walk through the historical center or go on a boat trip. Whatever we choose, Mělník is a city where we will always be happy to return.
