As the only one of the former five city gates, the Romanesque Nikolaitor has been preserved. At the exit of Karlsplatz towards Bahnhofstraße, directly next to the Nikolaikirche, one left the city through this gate in an easterly direction. Until 1832, the city gates were closed every evening. After that, the wall structure increasingly fell victim to increasing traffic. The Nikolaitor dates from around 1170. Beautiful loop from Eisenach through the Landgrafenschlucht up to the Burschenschaftsdenkmal with a dream view of the Wartburg.

Very beautiful view of the, I think, Ebenauer Köpfe. There is also an official path leading up to the cliffs and from there you also have a wonderful view. BUT BE CAREFUL: There is nothing fenced off up there. This means if you go too far forward, every step could be your last.
