Beautiful highlight of the crossing from Sufers to Andeer (or vice versa). Hardly any traffic, great panorama including a world view of the Piz Tambo.

The idyllic village is located on the shore of Lake Sufner. It has only around 130 inhabitants. If you are hungry, you can buy something to eat in the small supermarket.

Beautiful, small town in the Schams Valley. A restaurant, a bakery, a butcher's shop and a small supermarket invite you to linger and get some refreshment. There are also fountains for filling up with water. If you like, you can also relax in the Andeer mineral baths.

Savognin (Surses) 1207 m above sea level M. in the Albula Valley The villagescape is dominated by three stately churches. The well-known painter Giovanni Segantini (in Surses 1886-1894) noticed the unique natural beauty in our valley. Rough mountain ranges, steep gorges, hilly mountain meadows make an impression just by looking at them. An image that stays in your memory and leaves you wanting more. Savognin (German, obsolete and officially Schweiningen until 1890, Romansh Savognin, in the local dialect Suagnign, Italian, rarely used, Savognino) was a political municipality in the Albula district of the canton of Graubünden in Switzerland until December 31, 2015. On January 1, 2016, Savognin merged with the municipalities of Bivio, Cunter, Marmorera, Mulegns, Riom-Parsonz, Salouf, Sur and Tinizong-Rona to form the new municipality of Surses. Gravel biking in Ferrera is defined by its alpine passes, mountain lakes, and challenging climbs. Unlike the flat terrain of the UNESCO World Heritage city of Ferrara in Emilia-Romagna, this region of Ferrera provides a demanding experience through mountainous landscapes, offering a unique blend of natural beauty and physical challenge.
Given the mountainous terrain and alpine passes, the best season for gravel biking in Ferrera is typically from late spring through early autumn (roughly May to October). During these months, trails are more likely to be clear of snow, and weather conditions are generally more favorable for high-altitude riding.
The gravel bike trails in Ferrera are predominantly rated as difficult, characterized by substantial elevation gains and demanding terrain. There are currently no routes classified as easy or moderate in this guide, making the area best suited for experienced gravel bikers seeking a challenge.
Yes, many of the gravel routes in Ferrera are designed as loops. For example, you can explore the challenging Runda Lai da Vons, which circles a mountain lake, or the Splügen - Splügen Gravel Bike loop, offering varied terrain in an alpine setting.

Due to the high alpine nature of Ferrera's gravel trails, winter biking can be very challenging and often not recommended. Many routes involve high passes and significant elevation, which are likely to be covered in snow and ice, making conditions hazardous. It's best to check local conditions and forecasts if considering winter rides.

Weather in Ferrera's mountainous region can be variable, even in summer. Expect cooler temperatures at higher elevations, and be prepared for sudden changes, including rain or even snow, particularly in spring and autumn. Always check the local forecast before heading out, and carry appropriate gear for changing conditions.
