The view from the start of this trail is amazing with the rolling hills leading into the mountains. There is lush greenery as far as the eye can see as Mount Tamalpais Watershed meets the Cascade Canyon Preserve.

These last 100 yards down to the beach involve crossing the creek and scrambling down the cliffs through an erosion couloir. It passes the upper Alamere Falls that consist of 3 separate cascades between 20 and 30 feet in height., before reaching the beach with the rare Alamere "tidefall", a waterfall that flows directly into the ocean. It is one of only two in the continental USA. The other one is McWay Fall in Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park a couple hundred miles south also in California https://www.komoot.com/highlight/352537 The coastal trail to get here is mostly wide, gradual hard-packed dirt. Alamere's main falls tumble 40 ft (12 m) over fragile shale cliffs at Alamere Creek Beach. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alamere_Falls

Popular hike along the beach from the access at Wildcat Campground to the spectacular Alamere waterfalls, one of only two in California that fall directly onto a beach. The cliffs along the way leave plenty of space even at high tide, and are quite beautiful in their own right.

Crossing this saddle is a good excuse for a stop to take in the views, and maybe even hike down to Carson Falls from the nearby trailhead

Wide open flat but reasonably wind-protected camping meadow at the bottom of a steep gravel road, close to the beach. The food lockers that should protect your food from the hungry rodents are sometimes inhabited by mice, check for holes and gaps for furry residents
