The newly redesigned Reiterbrücke (Rider's Bridge) has been fitted with a durable, non-slip plastic decking. The old railing has been replaced with a significantly higher one. A ramp has been constructed in close proximity to the Reiterbrücke. From here, a gently sloping path provides barrier-free and convenient access to the lower-lying pedestrian and bicycle path along the Vechtesee (Lake Vechte). The perfectly completed Reiterbrücke offers a beautiful view of the Vechtesee and is now another highlight in the water city of Nordhorn.

The water mill was first mentioned in a document in 1270, and a seizure contract from 1377 also mentions a mill in Lage an der Dinkel.
