Coming from the north, third option to get to the Gorropu Gorge. At first mostly moderate descent, at the end steep. Partly gravel and scree on the way, so best with sturdy and closed shoes. Descent approx. 1:30, ascent approx. 2:00 hours. Entry to the gorge 6€ adults, 4€ reduced (May 2024) to be paid at the tent at the entrance to the gorge. Plan about 1 hour in the gorge. Alternatives: ascent and descent by jeep for 38 per person Campo Base Gola del Garropu on the SS 125 or walk down and only drive up to the SS125 18€. Or drive yourself to the parking lot in the valley (Parcheggio Tiscali - S'Abba Arva). From there it is about a 2 hour walk (i.e. 4 hours there and back) to the entrance to the gorge.

Another significant formation is Su Sercone, a massive karst sinkhole approximately 500 meters wide and 200 meters deep, known for its unique conical shape.
The Supramonte region offers a variety of outdoor activities. You can find numerous easy hikes, challenging running trails, and scenic road cycling routes. For adventure seekers, canyoning and via ferrata are popular, especially in areas like Badde Pentumas and Codula Orbisi.
The best times to visit are typically spring and autumn. During these seasons, temperatures are more moderate, making trekking and exploration more comfortable. Summer can be very hot, and water levels in the gorges might be lower.

The region is rich in biodiversity. In Gola di Gorropu, you might spot wild mouflon sheep, pine martens, foxes, and golden eagles, along with the endemic *Nuragica* flowering plant. Su Sercone, the large sinkhole, hosts ancient yew trees and a unique ecosystem within its depths. The canyons themselves feature towering limestone walls, geological layers with fossils, and crystal-clear pools.
For Gorropu Gorge, you can access it from different points. One popular starting point is Passo Genna Silana, where free parking is available. From there, a downhill path leads to the gorge. Codula Orbisi also offers a raw and primordial canyoning experience with thrilling rappels into clear pools, ideal for experienced canyoners.
The region has a rich history. Gola di Gorropu has geological history evident in fossils dating back millions of years, revealing its submarine origins. Sardinian legends abound regarding the gorge, and there are traces of ancient human presence, including Nuragic constructions, within the area and in the depths of Su Sercone.
Yes, along the hiking trails to Gorropu Gorge, there are springs available. For example, Font Spring (Fonte di Gorroppu) is a known source where you can replenish your water supplies.
