it is indeed very technical, frequented by motorcyclists with dirt bikes, who move the ground creating ruts. But with a little attention you can descend at all levels.

"La Casermetta is located in a panoramic position, at the foot of Monte dell’Acqua Tosta, overlooking the vast Ascetta Valley. It is located in an area characterized by pastures and woods, typical of the landscape of the Tolfa Mountains. It dates back to the 1930s and was used as a partisan base during the Second World War.

The name derives from that of the locality in which it is located. It is a rather large residential villa made up of four terraces. Currently only three of them have been fully brought to light. The first terrace was probably occupied by structures that were not part of the main construction; the second includes a rustic courtyard from which you entered a corridor and then a kitchen, where you can still see the L-shaped counter, located above four brick arches. The kitchen communicated with another room through an opening. In a portion of this second terrace there is also a rectangular furnace whose construction date is not certain, but it is thought that it may have been built in the late Middle Ages, perhaps by the inhabitants of Tolfa Nuova themselves. There are also some vaulted rooms, mostly collapsed or still under excavation and, also in this area, signs of a medieval presence have been found. The third terrace probably consisted of a garden; in fact no wall structure was found. Inside there are some tombs in which bones were found."
