The lake park in Freiburg covers 35 hectares, of which around 10 hectares are the water surface of the Flückigersee, and offers numerous recreational opportunities such as a Japanese garden, sports facilities and an observation tower. Originally used for agriculture and later as a gravel pit, the area was converted into a popular recreational park in the 1980s and is now a central leisure location for around 40,000 residents.

The forest classroom in Holzhausen (March) can be used not only by schools, but also by kindergartens, day-care centers and similar institutions. I have also been there several times with the Waldeule through the VHS March for activities with children. There is also a marble run and wooden marbles for this.

That’s the best way to learn – directly in nature, surrounded by forest life.

Here you can look across the fields to Mundenhof, by far the smallest district of Freiburg. In the distance, the densely forested foothills of the Black Forest rise up.
