Former 16th-century church destroyed by fire in 1735 and subsequently rebuilt, renovated, and enlarged in Neo-Gothic style in 1848-1851 based on a design by E. Gife. Restoration work on the roofs and tower, designed by P.J. Taeymans, took place in 1893-1894. The tower, with its late Gothic foundation dating from 1531, was given a new spire in 1900.
