The Luysvijvers (consisting of the Grote Luysvijver and Kleine Luysvijver) are former recreational and fishing ponds. The ponds were created in 1939. Between 1970 and 1990, they served as a popular recreational area with an associated campsite. In 1996, Natuurpunt bought the land. The existing recreational buildings were demolished and the ponds were ecologically redesigned into valuable natural ponds.
