This cross and memorial spot was erected in 1782 in memory of Livine Bruggelinck, who was murdered here. Report from the pastor of Opbrakel, Jean Baptist (19th century). "According to popular tradition, this horror was the deed of a passing rider, who, driven by a vile impulse, allegedly assaulted the daughter while she was mowing grass. Although known, the perpetrator managed to evade justice by fleeing. A wooden cross still marks the spot where the wicked deed was committed."

The path further on isn't well-maintained and can be a bit difficult at times. But it's a lovely walk, immersed in the tranquility of the woods!
