Ideal location to park your car for free. Simply enjoy the Vrachelse Heide in a timeless way or relax at the Houtse Meer Pavilion. More about the Houtse Meer. This looks like a puddle that has always been there. However, nothing is less true! This water feature only came here in the 20th century through sand extraction. History: There used to be an inn here next to the old well at the front of the road. The Houtse Meer is popularly called 'the Put of Caron'. When the Caron family purchased this land with the intention of turning it into a sand extraction lake, there was no lake at all. Purely poor sandy soil and a few plots of forest. The lake is now no less than 20 meters deep due to sand extraction!

Here it is very nice to relax by the water, at the edge of the forest between Oosterhout and Breda. Take a seat on a chair on the beach and enjoy the great view.

It is allowed to walk on this military training area when no exercises are taking place. A beautiful landscape with beautiful dunes.
