Unfortunately, when I visited in December 2022, there was no more water in the lake. Like so many other forest lakes, it has dried up.

A new lake has been built in the middle of Steimbke. It is intended to collect rainwater so that the town is no longer flooded in heavy rain. It is also intended to serve as a local recreation area - with an eight-meter-high viewing hill that is also suitable for tobogganing, 500 meters of circular hiking trails, benches and a tree-studded nature trail. 46 parking spaces and five RV parking spaces have been built at the nearby natural outdoor pool.
