these are nice details along the way and pleasant to rest for a while. Unfortunately a bit too close to the main road Borger/Ees.

The parking lot near the corner of Zwatte and Olle Hullenweg is closed. There are a number of other parking lots nearby. That is better parking than along the main road.

In the middle of the forests of the former Schoonloërveld lie a few peat lakes that have been called De Tweelingen for years. In the forests of Schoonloo there are many peat bogs, sometimes old pingo ruins that have largely grown over. When the Schoonloërveld was reclaimed in the 20th century, the best parts were transformed into lucrative arable land. The poorest parts were usually still suitable for the development of forests. Here too, hundreds of hectares of state forests were created on the Schoonloërveld. The developers were forced to skip the worst parts of the field, often because the terrain was too rugged or much too wet. And so it can happen that those worst parts of the field from back then are now our most beautiful pieces of nature, such as De Tweelingen.
