The Ter Apeler Sluis and cable car have an interesting history, especially in relation to the construction of the Ruiten Aa Canal and the subsequent development of Ter Apel. The lock, which was built in 1917, is an essential part of the canal and is managed by the Hunze en Aa's water board. The cable car, which is located on the Ruiten Aa Canal, is unique and serves as a connecting link in hiking trails and as a tourist attraction.

It was really good here. The spot on the terrace is beautiful under old trees with a view of the old monastery. We slept well, ate well, and had a great breakfast with provisions that were offered at breakfast. The staff is very friendly. We felt completely at home.

A lovingly restored complex. Located directly on the path, a detour up the special staircase is worthwhile. Pay attention to the details and rejoice in the fact that there are still people who lovingly create remarkable objects by hand.
