Boardwalk in Renkums Beekdal

Highlight • Trail

A beaten path used to run here, but the wood path now leads over the area with dry feet even after heavy rain.

Bosbeekweg

Highlight (Segment) • Cycleway

Beautiful road through the forest and also the only legal cycling route through the forest near Quandenoord. You can use the concrete cycle path here with your regular bicycle, but with your gravel bike or MTB you will enjoy cycling on the hard dirt road that is directly next to it.

Tea Pavilion Keijenberg

Highlight • Viewpoint

Text / info
The benches on this hill refer to the place where the ladies of the 'de Keijenberg' house drank tea under an arbour of lime trees. The lime trees stood in a semicircle and were pruned in such a way that they formed a canopy. The now silted-up pool was a pond and the view around it was unobstructed in the 19th century, there were few trees. Around 1850, on the other side of the stream valley, there was a large wooden tea pavilion with two floors and a thatched roof. The dome stood on the eastern corner of the intersection of the Waterweg and the Europalaan and was first mentioned in 1845 and was demolished before 1875. From this high edge, the unobstructed view over the stream valley with the four still functioning watermills on the Hartenseweg must have been beautiful. It was a status symbol to have a dome at a country estate. Tea pavilions were always in places with a beautiful view, but also often in such a way that one could be seen oneself. No images are known of either the tea pavilion or the linden tree arbor. This information board shows an example of a tea pavilion. ©2012 Cultuurland Media, Wapenveld
