Lots of fun sections. Small jumps, one steep downhill and otherwise quite flowy up- and downs.

From the center of Arnhem you are in the middle of nature. Beautiful climb. Beautiful surroundings.

Wonderfully challenging and technical route full of banked bends and small playful height differences. Although it could be done on a gravel bike, this is really a route where the mountain bike comes out much better. The latter may be a bit of an open door, but no less true ;-)

The Schaarsbergen Route is an absolute playground, full of curves and more height difference than you would think. The constant technical steering, climbing and descending feels good on your legs as you move through a beautiful forest. This part of the route is the less technical part that can also be done with a gravel bike, but be careful... the constant twisting and turning requires a lot of energy and is certainly a lot more fun and easier to do on a mountain bike!

Yes, Schaarsbergen Zuid offers excellent cycling opportunities. A notable route is the Zijpendaalseweg climb, which provides a scenic ride next to Sonsbeek Park and Zypendaal Park, offering a gentle ascent with a steep final section. For a more relaxed ride, consider the Gravel through the forest, a broad, hardpack gravel road suitable for various bikes. You can find more cycling routes in the area by visiting the Cycling in Schaarsbergen Zuid guide.
For challenging mountain biking, the Schaarsbergen Mountain Bike Trail is an excellent choice. It's described as an 'absolute playground' with numerous banked turns and more elevation changes than expected, offering a technical and physically engaging experience through a beautiful forest. This route can also be combined with other MTB Veluwe Zuid routes. Another option is the Schaarsbergen-Koningsheide MTB Trail (ST 24-27), which features flowy singletracks.

The charming Small Church in Schaarsbergen, along with its rectory and carriage house, serves as a municipal monument and a focal point for community activities. Nearby, you can also find a monument and statue commemorating aviation pioneer Clément van Maasdijk, who tragically died in a plane crash in the area in 1910.

The Schaarsbergen Mountainbike Route can also be easily combined with other MTB Veluwe Zuid routes, including those in Arnhem and Ede, and the Natuurmonumenten Rheden route on the Veluwezoom.
While some less technical parts of the mountain bike trails, such as sections of the Schaarsbergen-Koningsheide MTB Trail (ST 24-27), might be manageable with a gravel bike, a mountain bike is generally recommended for the full experience. The Schaarsbergen Mountain Bike Trail, for instance, is quite technical with constant steering, climbing, and descending, making an MTB more suitable.
Visitors particularly appreciate the natural beauty and the extensive opportunities for outdoor activities. The scenic routes, like the Zijpendaalseweg climb, are loved for their greenery and pleasant ascents. The mountain bike trails are praised for being 'absolute playgrounds' with challenging features. The overall appeal lies in escaping city life and immersing oneself in the diverse forests and heathlands.
