In the tower masonry above the door, two stones with stonemasons' marks can be seen. I'm not sure if they can be classified as checkerboard stones: one stone above the portal on the tower side; one stone to the right of the right window above the same portal.

The church of Sternhagen was built, like most of the fieldstone churches in the Uckermark, in the 13th century. There are two checkerboard stones on the church of Sternhagen: - one stone above the portal on the tower side, - one stone to the right of the right window above the same portal.

The Protestant village church Sternhagen is a Gothic hall church in the Sternhagen district of the Nordwestuckermark municipality. The church is a rectangular hall church made of fieldstone with a sacristy on the north side from the second half of the 13th century. The church has a boarded-up square roof tower with a curved hood from 1707. The roof, doors and facade were extensively restored between 1997 and 2001 with the support of the German Foundation for Monument Protection. A double-tiered pointed arch portal is built into the west front, with two high windows above it on the sides and a circular panel in the gable. The ship windows and the staggered group of three windows on the east wall with a circular panel above have been preserved in their original form. Kröchlendorff Castle was built in 1848 by Prussia's first freelance architect Eduard Knoblauch on behalf of Baron Oskar von Arnim. The castle is surrounded by a beautiful park. The first gardens were laid out around 1700 and were expanded and redesigned in the course of building the castle according to the ideas of the landscape designer Peter Joseph Lenné. Adapted from Lenné Park, the architect Knoblauch designed the castle in the English Gothic style. He mainly used tracery rosettes in the windows, Tudor arches, a crenellated wreath and other Gothic decorative elements. Above the entrance is the von Arnim and von Bismarck family coat of arms. A banner below the coat of arms bears the year 1848. This coat of arms is also based on a design by Knoblauch. The current appearance of the castle is determined by the squat tower domes, the large window openings and the flat-looking facade.
