The Žilina Dam was built primarily for electricity generation and to supply industrial plants in Žilina with process water. The water depth is approximately 2 m where the Váh River flows into the reservoir, 10 m in the middle at the pedestrian bridge between the municipalities of Mojš and Mojšová Lúčka, and approximately 18 m at the Žilina dam. The entire project is managed and operated by Vodohospodárska stavba Bratislava, š.p.
